Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum
Permanent Pacific Coast Railway Layout

August 15, 2007

SMVRHM Museum member Ken Kelley and fellow railroaders in the Santa Ynez Valley are making great progress on their permanent layout display at the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum (SYVHM). This is a follow-on activity to their original "Iron Horses come to the Valley" display at the SYVHM which ended a few months ago. Thanks to Ken for the pictures!

All steam engines need water. Smoke and sky have been added to the picture in order to hide posters on the wall (and make it look a little more real).

This is the East end of the layout. There are three tunnels on the layout, one measuring 20ft long (i.e. 960 scale feet long).

Of course Mattei's is the centerpiece.

PCRy "High Trestle" bridge number 96 is on the route: 320 feet long and 50 feet high at milepost 74 (2 miles outside of Los Olivos). Janet Lyons (on the flat car) is still trying to get back to Los Olivos.

The Los Olivos station looks busy.
