Museum work party at the Bitter Creek Western Railroad

May 18, 2002

The Santa Maria Valley Railway Historical Museum dispatched a work crew to the Bitter Creek Western Railroad (BCWRR). Orders for the day: spruce up the BBQ area! Check out the results for yourself on Choo Chew Saturday, June 8, 2002...

But first, as always, let's start with something railroad... Visiting the BCWRR this weekend was this fabulous Alaska Railroad EMD F-7 diesel. Here's the up close, in the cab, detail.

Painting the picnic tables and the fence made a great improvement.

And how 'bout we spruce up this BBQ pit area?!

Just how much work can it be if your "tool box" includes an entire train!

No. 1500 looks pretty good from a distance, too. Without any indication of scale, you'd swear it was the real McCoy!

And doesn't that fence and stairway look good as the two "work trains" pass by?!...

Work in this area included relaying the bricks.

How's that for a finished product!

Thanks to Gary Van Aken for the pics!
